Hey. I went to Japan.

I pretty much never, ever use this blog anymore (blogging is so 2005), but some folks do come here to check on me on occasion, so I thought I ought to mention that Erin and I finally went to Japan this past October.  It was a fantastic 10 day trip, and I kept an overly detailed blog of it, which you can read here.  I also took way too many photos, which can be viewed here.

Another Threadless submission. This one is based on a weird vision of a Mariachi walking the streets of Tokyo that popped into my head just as I was waking up one morning. An interesting side note: the word "Mariachi" can be translated perfectly into Japanese with no change in pronunciation.

SuperPope on Newgrounds

Today I got a wild hair and decided to submit SuperPope Episode 1 to Newgrounds, the popular Flash animation portal.  In less than five hours it has received over 1000 views, 30 reviews and an average rating of 4 out of 5.  Not only that, but SuperPope is already featured on the front page!  How cool is that?

Han Shoots First

I'm a little torn on this issue. On the one hand, I thought the special editions of the Star Wars movies were generally screwed up and unnecessary (If Greedo had shot first he wouldn't have missed, I didn't need to see the wampa chewing on Luke's TaunTaun, and they shouldn't have messed with the goofy Ewok victory song). On the other hand, the longer we go without an original edition release of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD, the more valuable my original laserdisc box set will become.

At any rate, somebody obviously cares a lot about this issue. Click this graphic if you care to support their cause.

Star Wars: Clone Wars

Episode 13 of Star Wars: Clone Wars aired last night, and it was the best episode to date by far. Mace Windu spent 5 minutes dispatching droids in unique ways while his lightsaber was lost. At one point he used the Force to disassemble a super battle droid and shredded another group of droids with the parts.

If you aren't watching this series of 20 Lucas-approved 5 minute shorts, you should be. This isn't the Ewoks cartoon. These are actually meant to fill in story between Attack of the Clones and Episode III. The next episode airs tonight, and you can catch all the previous episodes on the website.
